About Dr. Neda
Dr. Neda Amani is a family physician with extensive experience in fitness, nutrition, women's health, health promotion, and cosmetic medicine. With her passionate and effective approach, Dr. Neda has successfully helped thousands of individuals overcome their issues with illness, weight management and obesity using exercise medicine, nutrition, cognitive behavioural therapy, mind-body and integrative medicine.
Dr. Neda is the founder of The Real You and the President and Clinical Director of Avicenna Health Centre (a multi-disciplinary health clinic in Toronto). Her current practice in the Ottawa area also focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, and cosmetic medicine.
Dr. Neda has been a regular speaker and presenter on obesity, physical activity, nutrition and chronic disease treatment and prevention through lifestyle change. She is the Ontario champion of the College of Family Physicians of Canada program "Doctors Promoting Active Living", which challenges physicians to stimulate communities and politicians with ideas on increasing health and wellness through physical activity. She has been a speaker at Canadian Cancer Society events on the role of exercise in cancer prevention and has been interviewed by 20/20, ABC News, CTV and City-TV.
Dr. Neda has been a medical consultant to the fitness industry and a regular contributor to Fitness Business Canada magazine, providing an article series entitled, "Exercise as Medicine" in which she outlines the role of exercise in the prevention and treatment of disease. Dr. Neda is an advocate of preventative medicine, nutrition, strength and exercise conditioning programs in the community.
Dr. Neda has received numerous awards and recognition for excellence and contribution, as well as for her leadership, compassionate and humanitarian qualities. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Toronto Medical School. Dr. Neda currently resides in Ottawa with her husband and two children who lovingly attune her daily to the simple joys of life. She is grateful to live her own healthy lifestyle focused on her passions of yoga, singing, outdoor physical activity, and healthy and inspired cooking.
